WELCOME TO PSHRA TENNESSEE CHAPTER
Welcome to the Tennessee Chapter of the Public Sector HR Association (PSHRA-HR), better known as the Tennessee Personnel Management Association (TPMA). Any person working in a professional capacity in local government or a quasi‑governmental agency is eligible for membership. This includes city, county, and state governments, school boards, public hospitals, public utilities, elected officials, and other persons interested in public human resource administration. Student membership is available to full-time graduate or undergraduate students, or any person participating in a formal public service internship program sponsored by a recognized academic institution. Five key objectives drive our association in serving our members:
- To provide a forum for individuals engaged in public human resource administration to discuss their current problems;
- Implement the objectives and programs of the Public Sector HR Association for Human Resources within the State of Tennessee;
- Provide educational opportunities for the membership to further the objectives of the Chapter in the form or conferences, seminars, and regional meetings;
- Encourage and facilitate cooperative action among public jurisdictions and private employees within the state on human resource problems of mutual concern; and
- Explain and interpret the objectives and methods of human resource administration to the general public, civic groups, government officials, and employees.
- Our association is governed by a volunteer board of nine directors who represent all three grand divisions of the State. To connect with the board member closest to your area, click here.
The board travels across the State to engage with the members, holding quarterly membership meetings in each of the three grand divisions, and rotating the annual conference among those divisions. We also host networking forums across the State, typically held during the lunch hour, to provide additional opportunities for networking and exchanging information and best practices.
We encourage you to join TPMA and engage with other public sector human resource professionals in your area and across the State.
